POST-SESSIONAL ADDRESSES.

Nelson, This day. _ Tho Hon. Major Atkinson delivered his address on nntioual insurance at the Theatre last nig-'.it. Hiylifc livindred persona were present, and he was accorded a most favorable reception. His address was in most respects similar to his previous utterances elsewhere, but he said he proposed in his scheme to make it optional whether persons joined Friendly Societies or came under the scheme. He stated that the national insurance accounts would be kept separate, and that he felt certain that the contributions would be more than sufficient to provide for the benefits stated, and _ that any excess should be for the benefit of the people, either by increasing sick allowances or annuities, or by returns similar to an insurance bonus. A number of questions were asked, and, on the motion of Mr Levestam, 3L11.R., seconded by the Hon. J. W. Barnicoat, a hearty vote of thanks for the able address was carried by acclamation. A similar vote to tho Mayor, who occupied the chair, terminated the proceedings. Oamahu, This day. Mr T. Duncan, M.H.R., has been addressing his constituents in a number of places in this district, and iv each instance has received a vote of confidence. Wellington, This day. Mr J. G. Wilson, M.H.R., addressed the Otaki electors on Tuesday night, and received a vote of confidence.
