At the wool sales to-day the bidding was quiet. Tho catalogue comprised 12.100 bales. June 0. It is announced that the Earl of Roseberry has resigned the Under-Sccretaryship of State for the Home Department, in compliance with the wish of the Cabinet that the post should bo held by a, member of the House of Commons. Mr J. T. Hibbert, M.P. for Oldham. who now occupies the position of Political Secretary to the Homo Office, has been appointed to succeed Earl Roscberry.
The homeward mails via San Francisco, which left Auckland on April 2-1, were delivered here yesterday.
