The Avcather was fine and Avarm, the attendance good, and tho course in fine going , order, notwithstanding a, week's rain. The arrangements were excellent, and the accidents not Avortli recording. AVANOANU.I HANDICAP STEEPLECHASE, Of 235 soys ; distance 3 miles. Mr James Munu's Ruahino (Owner) ~ f Dr. Connolly'sDhudeen (Edwards)- .. f Mr J. Stevens' Dioinedes (A. Campion) 3 —Mr A. J. Keith's Reform and Lady Bab, Mr W. G. Nicholson's Par noil, Col. Eraser's 'Woodpecker, Mr W. Douglas' Pastime, and Mr E. M'El wain's Calamity also ran. Mr Chittam's Dan and Mr Stevens' Rata were Borutc-liud. There was ;i -p.-H.iicl struggle at the finish, Ruahine coming up under the whip and passing Dhudeen, avlio gamely made his final effort, and the judge gave a dead heat. Time, 7min. lOsccs. SELLING STEEPLECHASE, Of 30 soys ; miles. Mr A. J. Keith's Bugler"(A. Keith) .. 1 •Mr W. G. Nicholson's Dan (T. Watt).. 2 —RaA'on Avas scratched, Dan led for a Avhile, but only on sufl'erancc, as Bugler won as he liked at the finish. Time, Uiiiin. 52secs. MAIDEX STEKPLECHASE, Of 100 soys; distance, 2 J- miles. Dr. Connolly's Ngata (Freron) .. 1 Mr D. Scott's Abolition (Ca.mpiou) .. 2 Mr Maurice O'Brien's Reliance (Hope) 3 —Mr Lumsden's Nukurau, Mr Keith's Bugler and Lady Bab, Mr M'Elwaiu's Calamity, Mr Frazor's Woodpecker, and Mr Douglas' A.G. also ran. Ruahine, Dhudeen, Diomcdes, and Parnell weie scratched. Reliance led tho way, Avith Ngata and Calamity close. It was seen that Ngata. had the race in a canter if Fi'crou could keep him on his feet, which he did, and Ngata won easily from Abolition, Reliance three lengths behind. Time, G mm. 8 1-uth sees. Dr. Connolly's Avin ■was very popular, and horse and rider Avere loudly cheered on weighing in. GRAND STAND STEEPLECHASE, Of 25 soys ; distance 3 miles. Mr 11. Enderby's (Mount Hope) ~ 1 Mr Douglas's Pastime (Lyford) .. 2 Mr J. Stevens' Diomedes (Campion) ~ 3 —Mr Keith's Bugler and Reform also ran. lluuhiiio and Reliance avus scratched. Of the five horses sent to the post, Mount Avas tho only fresh one and in rare buckle. Mount, .Diomedes, and Reform Avere the first to slioav prominently, Mount pulling double at the end of two miles. Reform came a cropper over tho timber jump, and left Mount sailing along in front of everything and jumping beautifully He avou •with plenty in hand. Pastime, though well ridden by Lyford, and running gamely, could not get on terms Avith the leader, and Diomedes just managed to Hccurc the barren honor of third place. Time, 7mins 7secs and l-sths. CONSOLATION. Of 10 soys ; one mile and a half. Lady Bab .. .. .. .. 1 —Calamity, Reliance, and Woodpecker also rau. Time, 3min 15secs. THE DEAD HEAT. The dead heat betAvecn Ruahine and Dhudeen Avas then run oft', and Avas Avon by the former, who led all the Avay. Dhudeen gained steadily during the last mile, but Avas never able to get 011 terms Avith Ruahine, who came in a Avinner by a length. Time, 2mins 30secs.
