ACCIDENTS AND CASUALTIES.

The third son of Mr Fcrgusson, tailor, aged six years, accidentally fell into the river yesterday afternoon and was drowned. The body was recovered by the Government diver.
Dunkdin, This day. Mr Daniel Corrisou, dispenser of the Tuapcka hospital, was found dead in his bed on Thursday morning. The cause of death was heart disease. The deceased, who was oo years of age, had been the dispenser in the institution for eight years. Auckland, This day.
Information has been received that a man named Squire Fockton, aged 10, the only European on Guror's Island, near Christinas Island, had committed suicide while suffering from sunstroke. He wis in charge of the guano traffic on the island, and was well-known in Auckland. CiiEiSTCHUECii, This day. On Thursday afternoon a little girl two years old, a daughter of Mr T. Smith, qf the Ilangiora flour mills, had a "peculiar escape from drowning. She fell into the mill stream and was taken out seemingly lifeless. Measures were taken to restore animation, and on opening her mouth it was found full of half masticated food which she was taking when slio fell into the water. This stopped her throat, preventing the entrance of water or the expiration of air, thus keeping her afloat. On removal of the food the child showed signs of revival, and by night she recovered.
