Wanganui, Tuseday. The Grand Jury returned true bills against all the thirteen prisoners on the calendar, and His Honor discharged the jury with the thanks of the country. The Maori jury panel Avas called, and 44 out of 5G natives ansrvercd to their names, notwithstanding that this Avas the first time such a procedure rvas adopted. There arc two Maori prisoners to be tried by native juries, aud the proceedings iv connection therewith excite special interest hero. Hcnui, charged Avith stealing a Avatch and chain from the person of a half-caste at Fox ton, Avas found guilty, and sentence was postponed. John O'Donnell, a lad, charged rvith stealing' from a dwelling-house at Otaki, Avas acquitted on the ground of insanity. This day. Hcnui, for stealing from a person at Fcilding, rvas found guilty, and was sentenced to six months' imprisonment with hard labor. The case of rape against Nixon is uoav proceeding, and is likely to last all day.
