Dunedin, This day. Tbe following are the particulars of the poisoning ease at Kaitangata: — Miss M'Oornriek Avas staying there AA'ith her hrothcr-iii-laAy, Dr. Percy. She intended lea,ving for her homo in Southland on Friday, the 2:)nl instant, and on Thursday CA'cning a few friends were united to meet her. AVhilst dancing refreshments were handed round and Miss M'Corniick took a tart, and no sooner had she taken one mouthful than she cried out "I am poisoned," and ran to the doctor. Ho applied tho necessary remedies, and Miss M'Corniick has quite recovered. The doctor thinks she sAvallowcd none of the poison, A\inch lie concludes was caustic soda or eoirosiA'e sublimate. Nothing can be learned as to how tho poison got into tbe tart, and the matter is uoav in the hands of the police. The tarts Avero of home manufacture.
