Opunake, This day. A house belonging to a carpenter named Taylor has been burnt. The occupants lost nearly cA'crything. Both parents Avere fast asleep, but the cries of the baby woke them, AA'hen they found themselves enveloped in smoke. The house Avas insured iv the Northern office for -£100. Greymouth, This day. A fire at Ahaura, Totara Flat, burnt Mr Kennedy's premises and outhouses, Avith 20 tons of hay, 5 tons of chaff, a machine, 4 bales of avool, and a quantity of grass seed, harness, farm implements, kc Tho insurance is .£2OO in the Ncav Zealand office. The total loss is estimated at £400. Hoxitika, This day. A fire broke out at Riniu this morning. Costello's hotel, Maher's cottage, Cullen's store, and Sargeont's house AA'ero burned. Tho in snranccs are supposed to be £750 on Castello's and £300 on Cullen's property in the Fire Insurance Association of London, and £100 on Maker's in the South British office. Mahcr had a narroAV escape of being burned, as he aavis asleep AA'hen the fire fire broke out. The fire is supposed to have originated in Costello's billiard-room.
