Court yesterday George Collier, hotolkceper, sued 3lilner Stephen to recover two guineas, being the fee paid to defendant for the alleged healing of plantiff's daughter from a contracted lc_\ Tho plaintiff stated that 3rr Stephen, after laying one of his hands on the girl, said, " Your daughter is perfectly cured," and asked plaintiff to sign a. book of printed forms. Defendant also said that his fee Avas two guineas. Plaintiff signed the book, and paid the fee. Plaintiff noticed as they left the room that his daughter did not Avalk any better. Ho called 3lr Stephen's attention to it, and his reply Avas that she Avas perfectly cured. 3lr Stephen gave instructions to rub the girl's joints with magnetised oil, and to bandage the contracted limb Avith bandages dipped in magnetised water. She Avas to have bananas to cat. The plaintiff' carried out the instructions, except that he could not get bananas. He measured the girl's contracted leg and found it tho same as ever. She went again to Mr Stephen, but no improvement took place. Other Avitncsscs confirmed the plaintiff's statement. The case lasted all da}-, andAvas adjourned to Tuesday next, Avhen three more Avitnesscs for the plaiutitf Avill bo called. 3lr Stephen said ho Avould not call Avitnesscs from Christehureh, but he would apply for a week's adjournment to enable him to have evidence taken in other colonies as to the eihcatv of his cures.
