This day

The Tipperary Company at Macctown have sent down a cake weighing 955 ounces of gold obtained from about 400 tons of stuff.

Judgment was given yesterday in regard to the collision between the Mahinapua and the Omapere at Lyttelton. The Bench decided to the effect that the captain of the Omapere committed an error of judgment in applying rule 15 of the regulations for avoiding collisions, by which he further ported his helm, but that otherwise ho did everything possible to avoid a collision, and they returned him his certificate.
