AUCKLAND.

This day. At the inquest on the body of Charles Baker, of the schooner Saxon, the jury returned an open verdict of found drowned. The evidence showed that Baker and the woman Susan Dunceu had gone in a dingy during Saturday night's gale with the view of getting on board the Saxon for the night,

and both perished in the attempt, being in liquor.

At the annual meeting of the Acclimatisation Society yesterday the report showed a balance in hand of £22G. Mr James Russell was elected president.
