THAMES VALLEY AND ROTORUA RAILWAY COMPANY.
Auckland, Tlus day. The first annual meeting of the Thames A'alley and Rotorua Railway Company Avas held yesterday. Dr Campbell presided. The report stated that satisfactory arrangements had been concluded with the larger lac,dliQ\derß though whoso properties, the
line passes as to the terms of cession of the land required. The first instahnent of plant has been ordered from Home, and will irrivc in time to meet all contract requirements. The price at which the rails have been purchased is 9s 6d per ton, Avhieh is within the engineer's ostimate. The survey of the first section has now been completed, and contracta for it will soon be lot. Concerning the second section, the directors are now in correspondence Avith the Government to do their duty in a Avork which should haA-e been a State one, and not left to private individuals to accomplish. The report was adopted, and the following gentlemen were elected directors : —Dr. Campbell, Capt. Daldy, Messrs J. M. Clarke, Peacock, Thomas Morrin, P. Comiskey, M'Lean, Joseph HoAvard, and Halcombe.
