At the annual meeting of tho Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association last evening the committee's report shoAved that the entries at the Inst November slioav numbered 1230. The.^income of the association during the. year- was £2068 12s lid, including £136 15s balance from last year, and the expenditure £2367 0s 7d, leaAdng a credit balance of £301 12s 4d. A further sum of £416 3s 7d Avill havo to be provided to meet outstanding liabilities. Tho committee had taken over the '' Ncav Zealand Herd Book," Avith the vioAv to its publication, at regular intervals. There Avere at present 300 members 011 the books, besides 139 life members. Mr Peter Cunningham AViis elected president, Mr Thomas Brace vice-president, and sixteen new members were enrolled. During the meeting the retiring president, Mr AY. Henderson, said he kneAV that the estimate of £50,000 damage done to the crops in South Canterbury Avas Avell within the mark.
