Tlie Union Steamship Company's s.s. Taiaroa arrived in the roadstead from Southern ports at 1.30 p.m. yesterday, and was immediately tendered by the Boojum for passengers and mails and the lighters for cargo. The following is a report of her passage, kindly furnished by the 2)urscr : — Left Port Chalmers at 5 a.m. on the 25th, arrived at Lyttolton at 2 a.m. on the 20th ; left at 5 p.m. the same day and reached "Wellington at 9 a.m. on the 27th ; left at 4 p.m. the same afternoon and arrived at Napier as stated above. Experienced stronghead winds and heavy sea up the coast. The outward passengers were taken oft' at 4 o'clock and the Taiaroa proceeded oil her passage to Poverty Bay, Tauranga, and Auckland at 5 o'clock. The s.s. Kiwi took in a quantity of hides, preserral meats, and other cargo yesterday afternoon, and at 7 o'clock last evening took her departure for Wellington. The passengers and their friends were taken off to the barque May Queen at 5 o'clock last evening by the s.s. Sir Donald, and she was taken in tow by lhc steamer Kiwi at 7 o'clock. When the s.s. Kiwi cast off at about 9 o'clock, the May Queen was out beyond the Pania reef, with a freshening breeze from the N.W., which had carried her out of sight by this morning. We wish Captain Colvillc, his officers, and passengers, a rapid and pleasant passage home. The Union Steamship Company's s.s. Southern Cross arrived here from Auckland via Tauranga and Gisbornc nt 9 o'clock this morning, and was brought straight inside and berthed at the cattle wharf by the pilot. Besides a fair amount of general cargo for this port she brought five racehorses. The Southern Cross is announced to leave for Wellington direct at 12 o'clock to-morrow. The p.s. Manaia, Capt. Baxter, steamed for Wairoa at 11 o'clock last night, taking several passengers. Messrs Shaw, Savill and Co.'s chartered barque Candidate, Capt. Laurenson, was brought in to flic anchorage from the ballast ground this morning. The steamer Maori left Wairoa early this morning, and was expected to arrive here during the afternoon. The Union Company's launch Boojum, Captain Maloney, is to steam for Wairoa at 12 o'clock to-night, taking passengers. The steamer Sir Donald is to leave for Waimarama as soon as the sea gets Mnoother, having part of her cargo now on board.
