HAWKE'S BAY JOCKEY CLUB'S ANNUAL RACE MEETING.

From the New Zealand Herald we extract the following notes by " Phreton " on the handicaps of the above meeting :— _ The weights for four of the principal events of the Hawke's Bay Jockey Club's autumn meeting came to hand on Wednesday last. In allotting the imposts to the various horses, Mr Evett appears to have exercised care, and although exception may with good cause be taken with some of the conclusions lie has come to, I think, taking them all through, he is to be complimented on his work. For the Napier Handicap, one mile and three-quarter.-', Mr Evett has alloted the top weight of Ost olbs to Bundoora, though why the son of the Peer should be called on to give weight to Miscluef over tho distance I cannot make out. Bar his victory in the Christchurch Cup, when ho carried Bst 31b, Bundoora has neverdoneany thing much, and 1 think it will be generally voted that the mare and he should have changed places. With Sst lOlbs the daughter of Malice is decidedly well in, and fit and well on the day will, I think, be about the hardest of the lot to beat. ■ Lady Emma is not overburdened with Sst Gibs, and at a pound less the chance of Piscatorious should not by any means be disregarded, but the pick of the bunch to my mind is Libeller. With 7st l'ilbs the little son of Yatterina has an impost ho is thoroughly master of, and fit and well on the day he should prove a Triton among the minnows. For the Railway Handicap, three quarters of a-niile, Piscatorious stands out well with Sst 71bs, and Libeller, with 3lbs less, has nothing to complain of, but notwithstanding her steadier of Ost 71bs Mischief is not by any means out of it, for she is a perfect flyer over this distance. In the Hurdle Race Agent heads the list with l'2st, but as the gallant old son of Oliver Cromwell has been pensioned oft' for the remainder of his days, there is no use in speculating on his chance. With list 121bs Canard has nothing to complain of, for with only 21bs less, it will be remembered, he well beat the whole of his field in the same race at the Auckland meeting. New Year, with lOst lOlbs, should again be the son of Anteros' most dangerous rival, though Tartar and A.G. are not weighted out of it with lOst 2lbs and Ost 121bs respectively.
