DELIBERATE ATTEMPT AT MURDER.

Mr Jones, of the firm of Palmer and Jones, attempted to shoot Mr J. B. Roots this morning, but Roots escaped unhurt by running away in a zigzag- manner to dodge the shots. The would-be murderer is supposed to bo insane. The parties concerned have gone to Palmerston to obtain a warrant to arrest Jones.
