NEW PLYMOUTH.
This day. About 3.15 this morning a ten-roomed house on the South road, OAvned by Mr Charnock, Avas burnt to the ground. Mr and Mrs Charnock Avere the only occupants, and had a iuutoav escape, as they slept upstairs, and the loAver portion of tho house Avas on fire. The Charnocks lost everything in the house, having only time to escape in their night clothes. The house Avas insured in the South British office for .£350. Harvesting is in full sAving in this district, and natives are being employed, as Avhite labor is scarce.
