ChristohujujK, This day. The annual meeting of the Congregational Union aa-u.s commenced yesterday, the Rev. Dr. Roseby presiding. . Encouraging statements Avere made by tiie delegates of the church, showing that th-e denoniinatioii had during the year made satisfactory progress. It was stated that a ne w church is being built at Oamaru, part of Avhich is completed and available for service At Raveiisbourne a new church has been secured, and it is hoped before the year elapses a second Congregational Church with a settled pastor will be formed in Christelmrch. The Rev. AY. H. West, B A., of Wei-lin-tou was elected to succeed Mr AVilliams us chairman for the year 1884. Mr KnOAvles, the delegate from A\ ellmgton, invited the Union to hold its next animal meeting in that city, winch mvitation Avas luianhnously accepted by the Asaociation.
