Australia. Melbourne, January 20. The cricket match between the English . and Australian teams was resumed to-day. The former continued their first innings, Read and Bates, the not-outs of yesterday, again taking their places at the wickets. Both players batted well, and.added over 40 t.o the score before they were separated. \ Bates was at length caught for 35, and * Read for 73. G. B. Studd was bowled y~ when he had made one run, and the innings then closed. The following is the full score:— Barlow, bowled .. .. 14 C. T. The former had contributed 14 when he was bowled, and Massie joined Murdoch, Those batsmen got well set, and runs camo fast. Massie was, however, bowled' when he had put together a well played 43. None of the other players made any stand against the bowling of the Englishmen, Garrett being tho only one to reach double figures. Murdoch, however, remained at the wickets throughout the innings, and his bat for 17: The innings, closed for a total of Hi.
