WELLINGTON.
This day. Messrs Gamble and Omishcad, the representatives of the Pacific Mail Company, had an interview with the Premier this morning regarding the renewal of the San Francisco mail service. Nothing, however, can be done until it is ascertained whether Now South Wales is willing to commence negotiations. A cable has been sent to the liittcr asking what they intend to do in the matter. Information has been received hero from Collingwood that the Golden Ridge claim had cleaned up 162 ounces of retorted gold from 70 tons of stone. A dividend of sixpence per share has been declared, and the mine is reported to be looking well. The Agent-GencKil telegraphs that he has fixed the loth of March as the date up to which tenders for the direct steam service will be received.
