CHRISTCHURCH
This day. A boat belonging to one of the vessels in Lyttelton harbor, and containing three men, capsized yesterday while under full sail. The men were rescued in a very exhausted condition. A dwelling-house at Lyttelton, partly occupied by Air Reid, caught on fire on Friday last, and on the flames being extinguished proof of attempted incendiarism was discovered in the unoccupied part of tho building which is insured for £200 in the owner's name in the National office. Portion of a human skeleton, supposed to be a European, -was found on the cliff near Sumner yesterday. A curious question in marine insurance has arisen out of the docking of the Hurunui. A portion of her cargo was in tbe vessel when docked, and one of the consignees enquired from the agent in the National office, in which the goods were insured, as to whether docking did not constitute a deviation which would invalidate the insurance. The reply was that the insurance, was invalidated, but that owing to the circumstances the company woidd hold the consignees covered.
