A JEALOUS HUSBAND ATTEMPTS TO TAKE HIS WIFE'S LIFE BY SHOOTING.
Invekcaegill, This da}-. At the Police Court to-day a rabbiter named James Mulholland was brought up and remanded on a charge of having, on New Year's Day, discharged a loaded gun at liis wife with intent to do grievous bodily harm. The parties live at Jelling river, in the Oreti riding of the Southland County, and the accused fired through a door on the other side of which his wife was pressing in order to keep him out. The ball struck her stays, and grazed the sjjhic. The wound inflicted was not serious, but there is danger of erysipelas. It is understood that Mulholland is jealous of his wife, who is considerably younger than he is.
