A public meeting of the ratepayers in the Taradale river district will be held in the Oddfellows' Hall, Taradale, to-morrow at 3 p.m. Mr Ryan sells hy auction at his mart tomorrow at 11 a.m., fancy goods, lawn mower, furniture, figs, _o. Messrs Hoadlcy, Lyon and Co. hold their monthley stock sale at Hastings at 1.30 p.m. to-morrow, when 1800 sheep and 83 head cattle will be offered. The brethren of the Scinde lodge of Freemasons hold their regular monthly meeting in the Masonic Hall, Tennyson-street, tomorrow evening. The creditors of Mr Samuel Merrick are requested to meet at Messrs Tait and Mills' office to-morrow evening. A house surgeon is wanted for the Auckland Hospital. The property tax for the year commencing Ist April, "ISB2, is payable on Thursday, 23th instant, at the Property Tax Office, Wellington, or at any post, telegraph, or money order office. A public meeting of ratepayers in the Clive Road Board district is to be held in the public hall, Clive, on. Friday, 12th instant, to consider the question of Road Boards versus County Councils. The Town Clerk officially announces the changes in the duties and appointments of Messrs R, Williams and W. Black, which bear date as from the Ist instant. Claims against the Friendly Societies/ciV Committee must be sent in to the secretary, Mr Williams, by Saturday. Succcssfid competitors can obtain their prizes on Saturday afternoon. Messrs Gilbcrtson and Dixon, Brookflclds, Meanee, have a few dairy cows for sale. Tenders are wanted for removing a short distance and re-erecting a small house in Clive Square. Carts will run with legs of mutton from the Hawke's Bay boiling- down works on and after Friday. Several errors which appeared in the Hospittd subscription lists yesterday are corrected to-day. Mr A. Bryson wants it known that he is selling pine timber at lower rates than anywhere else in town. "Passion and Pride,"' a thrilling serial story, will be commenced in the enlarged supplement on Saturday. Mr Edward Lyndon has been appointed trustee in bankrupt estate of Harvey Slaelen. Mr C. W. Gooelsonhas received a further supply of Mexican silverine at the London Arcade in Hastings-street. Messrs Blythe and Co. are clearing red Flemish pure linen dress hollands at 7.', d per yard. Woods' Trico Saron Fluid is a valuable preparation for increasing the growth of tho hair. A. number of new advertisements will be found in our " Wanted "' column.
