WAIPUKURAU CALEDONIAN SPORTS.

The annual Caledonian sports meeting was hold at Waipukurau yesterday on the cricket ground. Sports commenced at about

11 a.m., at which time there were a good number of people on the ground. The proceedings were enlivened by music from the AVaipawa brass band, also by some bagpipe selections from Mr Haliburton. Several booths were doing a roaring business supplying the wants of "the inner man." Every event on the programme passed off satisfactorily, and the committee are entitled to praise for their excellent arrangements. Subjoined are the events : — Maiden Race, 200 yards ; first £1 10s, second los—o- Knock 1, AY. Sterry 2, J. Goodwin 3. Four others started. The competitors kept close together for 150 yards, Goodwin leading. Knock then took the lead, and won by a yard, a yard separating second and third. Boys' Race (boys under 10), 100 yards ; first 10s, second ss. F. Fox 1, A.Bailey 2. Six started. Fox, who looked an oldfashioned ten-year-old boy, won easily. Men's Race (all comers), 100 yards : first £1 10s, second 15s.—E Price, 1; K. Arthurson, 2. Two others started. The rrce was never in doubt, Price winning easily. Time, II.V sees.
