DUNEDIN.

December 29. A company has been formed here, styled the New Zealand Electric Light and Power Company, to work the Brush, Lane, Fox, and other systems of electric lighting in New Zealand. A man named George Chollis met with a severe accident at the Spanish restaurant. While in an epileptic fit he fell downstairs, and now lies ia a precarious State. At the Catholic Church yesterday three young ladies entered upon their novitiate in the Dominican Order of Nuns, and two, whose year of probation had expired, made their fiual vows. Captain Underwood, of the Union Company's Rotomahana, is about to enter the New Zealand Shipping Company's service, and goes home at an early date to bring out one of their steamers. Consequent on Captain Underwood's retirement, the following changes in the Union Company's service are announced : —Captain Carey, of the Te Anati, will be transferred to the Rotomahana ; Captain McGee, of the Rotorua, to the Te Anau ; Captain Jones, of the Penguin, to the Rotorua; Captain Bernecn, of the Southern Cross, to the Mahinapua ; and Captain Callman to the Southern Cross. Captain Kennedy, of the Hawea, gets the Hauroto, Captain McGillivray, ot the Taiaroa, taking the Hawea, Captain Mcintosh the Hero, and Captain Webster the Omapere. Captain Anderson resumes command of the Penguin, which has been recorumissioned after a complete overi haul.
