WELLINGTON.
December 29. Sir Julius Vogel was entertained at luncheon yesterday. About 250 persons, including a fair sprinkling of ladies, sat down. The chair was occupied by the Mayor, having on hia right Sir Julius Vogel, and on his left bia Excellency the Administrator of the Government, Sir James Prendergast. The chairman was also supported by the Colonial Treasurer (the Hon. Major Atkinson), the Minister of Land (the Hon. W. Rolleston), and the Speaker of the Legishtive Couniil (Sir Wm. Fitzherbert). Among those present were also Messrs W. H. Levin, C. J. Johnston, W. Hutchison, and W. Beetbam, M.H.R.'s; and the Hons. P. A. Buckley, Dr. Grace, and J. Martin, M.L.C. The remainder of the company comprised many of the most prominent citizens of Wellington. After the customary loyal and patriotic toasts had been proposed and honored, Sir William Fitzherbert gave " The Health of Our Guest," which was enthusiastically acknowledged, Sir Julius Vogel, in a speech of half-an-hour'sduration, replied, after which the company separated.
