Acceptances for the handicaps at the Waipawa County Racing Club's meeting at Kaikora on New Year's must be in the hands of the secretary, Mr Newton, by 8 o'clock to-night. Entries for the principal events of the Hampden Eacing Club's annual meeting, to be held at Hampden on Thursday next, close to-night at 8 o'clock. Acceptances for the handicaps at the Petane Caledonian sports close on Tuesday, and for the handicaps at the Friendly Societies sporta on Wednesday. The Hawke's Bay Jockey 'Club's Boxing Day race meeting takes place on Tuesday on the Hastings course. Special trains will run on that day, and the first race is to be started at 12.30 p.m. The Waipawa Athletic Club's annual sports will be held in Mi- Baker's paddock, on Tuesday, the first event being started punctually at 11 a.m. Messrs Hoadley, Lyon and Co. sell the privileges of the Woodthorpe races, to be run on January Ist, at the Criterion Hotel on Wednesday at noon. Messrs Banner and Liddle's next sale of hides, skins, tallow, and other colonial produce, takes place at their Spit stores on Wednesday at 2 p.m. The famous illusionists, Messrs Keller and Cunard make their first appea.tance in the Theatre Royal on Tuesday evening for a short season. A sixpenny table has been opened at Ashton's Provincial Hotel, which will be illuminated to-night and to-morrow evening. Tbe Volunteer Band will also play from the balcony of the hotel at short intervals. The boundaries of the newly constituted Wainui school district are published by the Education Board. The whole of the solicitor's offices in Napier will be closed from this date till January 3rd for the Christmas holidays. Mr H. Pulford, Clive, offers a reward of £o for the recovery of a pocket-book containing cheques and cash, lost between Napier and Clive. The Registrar of tbe Supreme Court announce that Mr H. P. Cohen has been appointed trustee in the bankrupt estate of Mr R. M. Miller. Messrs Blythe and Co are clearing white pique pelisses and blouses at about half price. Messrs Neal and Close have special attractions on their tables to-day, and invite the public to see them. Woods' trico saron fluid is a valuable preparation for increasing the growth of the hair.
