Consols have declined to 99i. *

New Zealand securities are firm at the following quotations : —Five per cent. 10-40 loan, 105. ; five per cent. 1889 loan, 104, ex dividend ; four and a half per cent. 1879-1904 loan, 10H.

Wheat is unchanged at 45/ for Adelaide, ex-store, and 43/6 to 46/6 for New Zealand ditto ; Adelaide flour, ex-warehouse, 34/. Australian tallow remains afc 42/ for best beef and 44/6 for best mutton. Melbotteice, December 20.

Shipping wheat, per bushel, 4/7; the market is unsteady, and prices have been heavily declining of late, but a further decrease is not, however, expected. Malting barley is steady at 3/9 to 4/, but the demand is not active. The market for New Zealand oats is weak and irregular ; feeding qualities, duty paid, are worth 3/9 to 4/, and milling ditto 4/2 to 4/3.
