Mr G. F. Richardson has been elected Chairman of the Southland County Council, and Mr H. Hurst re-elected Chairman of the Wallace County Council.

Mr John Kingsland, senr., and Mr John Lytton M'Donald have been nominated tor the office of Mayor of the Borough of Invercargill.

An official of the night goods train on Tuesday night found the station-master's office open at Edendale, and a safe on board a truck en the floor ready to be removed. It is supposed that the burglars were scared by the approachiug train. There was a considerable sum in the safe.
