In the House of Commons to-day Sir Charles Dilke, Uunder-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, stated, in reply to a question, that re-assurances had been given to the Porte regarding the nature of Earl Dufferin's mission to Cairo in connection with the settlement of Egypt, and that the Turkish Government had been informed that no steps would be taken which would aftect existing relations between the Sultan and the Khedive.
