LONDON.
October 26
The French Government are making preparations for a campaign in the south of Algiers, where a number of wandering tribes of Arabs have still declined to submit themselves to French rule. It is the intention of the French authorities to enforce the submission of the tribes in question, and compel them to desist from the harrassiDg raids which they have been in the habit from time to time of making upon the French settlements. A meeting has been held in London to raise a fund for presentation to the private soldiers of the English army who were engaged in the late campaign in Engypt. The Lord Major presided, and a considerable sum was subscribed in the room.
