GISBORNE.
October 26. The banquet given to Mr Allan McDonald on Tuesday night was a great success. About one hundred persons were present, including Sir G. S. Whitmore and several Napier and Auckland visitors. The Agricultural Society held their show at Patutahi yesterday, but owing to bad weather there were not many present. The news from the Southern Cross oil springs ie very encouraging.
