NEW PLYMOUTH.

October 18

The steamer Lalla Rookb, for whose safety ereat anxiety has been felt, arrived at Waitara last night. She had been taking shelter at Kawhia. The captain says he left Manakau last Wednesday, and encountering a strong south-westerly wind and sea anchored under Albatross Point. On Thursday morning finding the sea too heavy there lifted anchor, and made for Kawhia, and remained there until yesterday morning, when sbe left, and arri7ed at Waitara shortly after 7 o'clock last evening. The captain also reports that the whole cause of the report in reference to the distress signal used was the usual recognition of steamers passing by exhibiting a light. At a meeting held last night it was decided to rebuild St. Andrew's Church, and to solicit subscriptions from Presbyterians in all parts ot the colony to defray the cost.
