October 16. A telephonic " bureau" ia to be opened

in Lyttelton next week to communicate with the Christchurch telephone exchange.

The Charity Sunday collection in most of the suburban and city churches yesterday was as follows :—Roman Catholic, .£9O 17s lid; Cathedral, 563 16s 9d; St. Michael's £117 6s 10d ; St. John.-, £35 16s 8d ; St. Luke's £30; Wesleyan, £34 2s 6d ; Congregational, £11 Is 4d ; Jewish Synagogue, £22 Is 6d. The Masonic lodges attended the morning service at the Cathedral.
