R.M. COURT, ORMONDVILLE.
Wednesdat, October 11. (Before Captain Preece, R.M.) ASSAULT. Police v. P. H. Holm, B. A.—Defendant was charged with assaulting one J. Ingebretsen at the Makatoku Hotel some time ago. After hearing the evidence of the witnesses the Court fined Holra £4 and costs, or one month's imprisonment in ISa pier gaol. j CIVIL CASES. Sorensen v. Wegner (re-hearing).— Mr Lascelles for plaintiff, and Mr Guy for defendant. Mr Laecelles strongly objected to a re-hearing, and a wordy warfare ensued between the opposing counsel. The R.M. decided to go on with the case, but it had not proceeded far when the solicitor for defendant stated that he wished to change his defence. This the Court would not allow. A long legal argument then ensued in j reference to the costs of the case, judgment being finally entered up for the j plaintiff, with costs, £2 17s 6d. rUHIOUS KIDING. Ole Olsen and August Ammundsen were charged with furious riding on the Ormondville road. Defendants pleaded not guilty, but the offence was proved. Before giving judgment the R.M. reprimanded the defendants. A fine or 10s and costs 21s 6d, was imposed in each case.
