THE MEAT EXPORT COMPANY.

[To the Editor of the Daily Tele&baph.] Mir,—ln your report of the meeting of the proposed Meat Export Company yesterday you report me as having said, when seconding Mr Bennett's motion, that " I was opposed to Messrs Nelson and Williams Holding a third of the shares allotted." This, Sir, is directly contrary to what I did say. I eaid that,

though quite concurring with Mr Bennett's motion, I did not agree with him in the opinion he expressed that it was inadvisable that Messrs Nelson and Williams should hold such a large proportion of the shares; on the contrary I looked upon it as an earnest of their faith in the future of the concern that they should ask to retain so large an interest in it.— I am, &c, W. J. Birch. September 19, 1882.
