NOTABILIA. An ordinary meeting of tho Hawke's Bay Philosophical Institute will be held in the Athenseum this evening. The chair will be taken at 7.30. The first meeting of creditors in fhc estate of Clemmen Petei'sen, of Waipawa, bootmaker, a bankrupt, will take place in the Court House, Napier, at 2 p.m. tomorrow. Pigeon matches will be iired off at Taradale to-morrow, commencing at 10.30 a.m. The quarterly meeting of tho Juvenile Foresters takes place this evening at 7 o'clock. Mr Lyndon holds a land sale at his rooms to-morrow at 2 p.m., when properties in Napier, Havelock, and Makaretu will be sold. Woodyear and Ross's Royal Austral iaa Circus opens in Cliye Square on Monday evening next. Messrs Banner and Liddle hold an auction sale of oranges, apples, lemons, and fowl wheat at their rooms to-morrow at noon, and on Thursday sell the dwelling and outhouses lately in the occupation of Dr Spencer, and also a quantity of furniture, &c. A public ball will be held at the Town Hall, Hastings, on Wednesday, 30th instant. Persons who promised subscriptions to the Woodville Methodist Church are requested to forward the amounts to the secretary, Mr T. Moore, and further help will be gratefully acknowledged. The Hawke's Bay County Council invite tenders for forming about 30 chains of road between the racecourse and Meanee bridge. At Messrs Monteith and Co.'s cattle sale at the Shamrock yards on Wednesday 100 head mixed cattle and 10 superior dairy cows will be offered. A brown mare is impounded at Napier, which, unless redeemed, will be sold on the 23rd September. A kangaroo pig dog named "Nap," has been lost from Waipukurau. Reward paid on delivery of same to Mr W. A. Neale, Olrig station, or to Mr P. Grow, Waipukurau. Mr Allan M'Lean's thoroughbred stallions Vasco di Gama, Gladiator, and Merlin, and the Carlyon pony stallion Tarn O'Shanter, will stand this season at Havelock. Mr F. Algar, commission agent, West Clive, has a valuable property at Taradalo for sale. Particulars in advertisement. Messrs Blythe and Co. quote prices for Brussell's hearth rugs. Two boarders in a private family are wanted. The Municipal Engineer invites tenders for cutting pipe trenches for the new water mains. Messrs Dolbel Brothers require tenders for making and burning 300,000 bricks Mr W. B. Woods, pharmaceutical chemist, Napier and Hasting 3, informs the public that, owing to increase in business, he has determined to reduce his scale of charges.
