CHRISTCHURCH.

September 11

The immigration nominations sent by the mail on Saturday represent 333 souls, or 2974 statute adults.

W. Wilson, a farm laborer, was found drowned in the river Styx yesterday.

On Saturday, H. Leach, aged ten years, stabbed his brother Robert Leach, aged fourteen years, in the leg with a penknife. The former was tramping over plants in the garden, when his brother told him to desist, and on refusing to do so Robert raised his hand to strike him, whereupon he opened his pen-knife and stabbed his brother as stated. The offender, who is a wild unmanageable boy, was airested. Captain Anderson, of the barque Wild Wave, reports that last Monday, when passing the coast between Catlin'a and Nugget Point, he noticed in shore what appeared to be a large vessel with her foremast and mizzen mast only standing. He was at a considerable distance, and cannot speak positively, but both himself and his chief officer agree that the vessel had all the appearance of having lost her main mast, and of being ashore somewhere near False Inlet.
