HOKITIKA.

September 6. The steamer Murray, from Nelson, in trying to enter the river yesterday, got ashore on the north spit. The sea was tolerably heavy, and the steamer got into an awkvard position on the beach behind the protective works. It is extremely doubtful if she will be able to get off without launching over the bank into tbe river. The steamer Kennedy was ready in tbe roadstead to enter after the Murray, but seeing the latter steamer's mishap, the Kennedy remained in the offing.
