During the month of August there were registered in Timaru 44 births, 9 deaths, and 4 marriages.

The Customs revenue for August amounted to 1687 5s 91, as against £2686 9s sdin the corresponding month last year.

Mr Edward H. Late, land and commission agent, is missing. He left bis office on Wednesday morning, saying he would be back in an hour, and was seen later on in the neighborhood of the Saltwater Creek, about two miles south of the town, but he has not since been heard of, though search parties have been out all day. It is feared that something has happened to him.
