It ia announced tbat Sir George Bramwell, who resigned the position of Lord Justice of Appeal in September last, has been raised to the Peerage.

The Marquis of Hartington, Secretary of State for India, made a speech today at Burnley, Lancashire, in the course of which he stated that, although the Leaguers were continuing a guerilla warfare in Ireland, there were hopeful signs that the agitation in that country was gradually diminishing.
