December 14. An infant, aged 11 months the daughter of Mr F. E. Liardet, died this morning from the result of scalds received on Monday. The accident occurred through the child pulling a teapot ofl the table. G. S. Skinner has been arrested on a charge of forgery and horse btealing. He is remandec , to the 16th. A man named Wm. Elson, a stevedore, died suddenly this morning while at work stowing wool on board the ship Piako. An inquest will be held. It is probable that action will be taken against those who were engaged in sweeps at the Hutt, rices on tbe 30tb. The declaration of the poll for South Wellington took place to-day, when Mr Hutchison was declared elected. The numbers were unaltered, except one vote taken oif Hutchison, one off Edwards. At tbe official declaration for Te Aro the numbers were unaltered.
