The escort brought down £20,000 worth of gold last night. William Edwards, a blacksmith, committed Buicide at Clinton last night by hanging. He had been in low spirits for come time. Mr Pyke has convened a meeting of tbe Otago members to consider the run question. The numbers of the Dunstan polling were Pyke 530, and Fraser 482. The Herald says that Dr M'Donald has received letters by the mail strongly advising him to stand for tbe Rectorship of the Edinburgh High School, with a salary of £1000, but he has declined.
