The amount received by the Treasurer for ten leases on the Northern district for the past ten years is £158,000. Small-pox is spreading. A further case of a little girl in Uoulbnrn-street, and another child in Pyrmont, besides a married couple in the same district, have, it is believed, caught the disease. The present patients are progressing favorably. The Rev. Joseph Campbell lectured in the Mechanic's School of Arts yesternight on the " Wonders of New Zealand." Melbourne. At the half-yearly meeting of the Colonial Mutual Life Assurance a satisfactory report was read. The society's annual income is now £50,000. Mr Conway, the agent of the English cricketers, has telegraphed declining to pay the per centage demanded by the Cricketer's Association for patronage. The revenue returns for November show an increase of £45,000. Perth. Mr John Forrest has reached Albany after a careful examination of the proposed route of railway from York to the Sound. Brisbane.
