I have examined the SAiurLK of M'Ewin's Bottled Ale submitted to me, and find that it contains - > Alcohol by weight, 5"40 per cent; or by volume, 655 per cent. Extractive matter, 3"06 per cent.; Acid matter, 0-17 per cent. I have also examined the Alb for such deleterious ingredients as are sometimes added to Beer, and have found no indication of their presence. The three first conditions laid down by the Committee for Wines and Beehs for the late International Exhibition, as those to which especial prominence would be given, were—lst, Low alcoholic per centajre: 2nd, Freedom from acidity ; 3rd Absence of fusel oil; and all these are fulfilled in th sample.
