THE COMING ELECTIONS.

[To the Editor of the Bairn TEKE&UArrt.] Sje,—The man with an impediment in his speech never speaks well of anyone. Such are the words I picked out of the Australasian of the sth instant. After reading them it struct me forcibly that the quotation might very well be applied to the party whose letters adorn the columns of your journal, but whose signature should not be " Squint." The individual referred to is a member of a certain class that takes pride in bein<* the mouthpiece of a party that ia afraid to show its colours, but wink at venom being spattered through a tool for the purpose of damaging a political opponent. Let " Squint " come forward with that manliness which characterises Mr Buchanan and his friends, and make his charges against Mr Buchanan as to the part he played during his term of office on the Harbor Board, and also the position that gentleman took at the meeting in the office of Messrs Banner and Liddlo. This " Squint" dare not do, as he is well aware that there were several gentlemen at the meeting above mentioned, who, although politically opposed to Mr Buchanan, will do him the justice of vindicating his honest action on the above occasion against the vile Rlanders of " Squint" and his associates. Nature will out. In this instance the lily cannot be painted.—l am, &c., Stutteh. November 26, 1881.
