CHRISTCHURCH.
November 10. The Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association's annual show yesterday was attended by an immense number of visitors. There were nearly 20,000 persons on the ground. There was about £875 taken at the gates yesterday, and £95 on Tuesday. The weather was cloudy, but fine. The total entries quite equalled those of last year. There was an especially good display of agricultural machinery. The show of merinos was excellent, both in number and quality, and so also was the show of shorthorns. The gold medal for the best bull was awarded to Mr James Kermick, of Victoria, with Oxford Wildeye 2nd. The champion gold medal for the best cow fell to Messrs Robertson Bros., of; Victoria, with Duchess of Derriment. The flower show was good and was well patronised. A dog show, a novel feature introduced this year under the auspices of the Canterbury Coursing Club, attracted a large number of exhibits, comprising every variety of dog. The proceedings were enlivened with strains of music by bands on the ground. The whole affair passed off very successfully.
