CHRISTCHURCH RACING NOTES.

[BY TiaEGBAPH.J

Christchurch, November 1

The race course is now very busy every morning preparatory to the Metropolitan Race Meeting next week. This morning a large amount of work was done Le Loup and Lady Emma both went a- good gallop, especially the latter. Old Chancellor also did capital work. Grip's action has not improved, but he is still the favorite for the C.J.C. Handicap. Cheviot, brother to Sir Modred, is the favorite for the Welcome Stakes, and Amulet for the Derby, for which event Hinemoa has improved in the betting. Mata is a good favorite for the Cup, arid will possibly see level money before the start.
