WASTE LANDS BOARD.
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 28. The Board met at 11 a.m. Present: The Commissioner of Crown Land Lands, and Commissioners Buchanan, Tanner, and R. Harding. COHEESPONDENCE. Report from the Chief Surveyor on the Mahararama block, recently proclaimed waste land. From the Wairoa County Council, thanking the Board for recommending a timber reserve in the Kotokakaranga block. From H. Grare, enquiring whether the Board will grant a license to him to split white pine on Government reserves in the Woodville district, and if so upon what terms. Resolved Dot to grant a license. From H. R. Holder, held over from last meeting, requesting that rural section No. 168, Woodville, reserved as a gravel pit, may be submitted at auction for lease. Resolved that the lands should be offered for lease for a period of ten years under section 25 of the Public Reserves Act, 1881, a draft form of lease to be submitted for the consideration of the Board. From P. Dooney, requesting a lease for the Mohaka ferry reserve on the Taupo road, which he was licensed to occupy during the year ending 31st August last. Resolved that a lease be granted for seven years from Ist September, 1881, at a rental of £5 per annum, payable half-yearly in advance, subject to the lessee keeping a securely fenced paddock of not less than twenty acres in extent. From C. 0. and T. O. Thompson, applying for a provisional license of 200 acres of land at Waitara for coal mining purposes. Resolved that a provisional license be issued for one year at a rental of £5 per annum, payable half-yearly in advance. The Board then adjourned.
