RAILWAY MANAGEMENT.
tTo the Editor of tho Daily Telegraph.] t?iR, —Being about to leave Napier, I would wish through your columns to 'tender my sincere thanks to the railway officials for the courtesy afforded by them to five strangers who arrived on the platform this morning prior to the starting of the 7.25 train. The ticket office was still open, and the portmanteaus of the travellers were being conveyed from the cab, when a whistle was blown, and the train started, although it was mentioned and also very evident to the officials that the five strangers were intending passengers. May I ask is this a part of the system on which this Maka-toku-Napier line of railway is worked ? If so what a. credit it must be to the officials, and iohat an immense boon to the travelling public, especially those who wish to proceed to the West Coast. Apologising for thus trespassing on your space.—l am, &c, Visitor. Napier, October 19, 1881. .
