CALCUTTA.
October 17. Telegrams hare been received from Afghanistan announcing that the Ameer's Turkestan army has occupied Herat, which has been evacuated by Ayoub Khan. In accordance with the announcement made at the beginning of this month, the British garrison at Quittah, in Northern Beloochistan, near the Afghan frontier, has been largely reduced.
